Movie: Pazhassi Raja: December 12

KAW screened Pazhassi Raja, the multilingual biopic magnum opus film directed by Hariharan on December 12.

November 1 - 30, 2009: Fund Raising for Anwin & Abel

Anwin & Abel, born into a middle class family in Trichur, are both affected by the genetic disorder Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS).

Movie: Puthiya Mukham: September 26

KAW screened Puthiya Mukham on Sept 26. The movie featured Prithviraj, Priyamani, and Meera Nandan. The film was directed by Deepan and music was scored by Deepak Dev. M.Sindhuraj, the writer of many movies, has done a great work of the script.

ONAM Celebrations: September 20

2009 Onam Celebrations was held on September 20 at Newport High School, Bellevue with Ona Sadya at noon and followed by variety entertainment by the members. The KAW Executive Committee thanks every members to make the program a grand success.

Soccer Tournament: September 16 - 30

Throwball Tournament: August 30

KAW Throwball tournament for women was organized on August 30th at 10 AM at East Sammamish Park. Details here.

KAW Cricket Tournament: August 22

KAW's cricket tournament was held on August 22nd from 8 AM to 6 PM at All-Purpose Field 6-artificial turf grass Studios West campus, west of The Commons (New Microsoft Ground). Led by Dinesh Nambiar, the Kerala Royals won the KAW cricket trophy by comfortably beating Gods Own Pattalam. Kerala Royals earlier in the day toppled the defending champions Pulikoottam in a close encounter. Read the report here.

Annual Picnic: August 15

KAW members got together for the annual community picnic on August 15 at the East Sammamish Park. Various fun-filled activities marked the event.

Movie Makante Achan

KAW kicked off 2009 activities with a super hit movie Makante Achan on April 4th, at Totem Lake Cinema, Kirkland. Approximately 165 people showed up for the movie making it a grand success. We expect our members' continued cooperation with our upcoming events.

Movie Sagar Alias Jacky

KAW presented Mohanlal's Sagar alias Jacky as the movie for the month of May 2009 on May 16th 2009 at Totem Lake, Kirkland,

Sreeniyaan Twenty-20

KAW is proudly presented the stage show for 2009 -- SREENIYAAN Twenty-20 starring over 20 of the adorable stars of Malayalam cinema and television and would include SREENIVASAN, INDRAJEET, ROMA, MANIKUTTAN, KOTTAYAM NASEER, KALABHAVAN NAWAS, NITHIN RAJ & RAJALAKSHMI (Idea Star singers) amongst others at IKEA Performing Arts Center, Renton WA on Sunday, May 31st 2009 from 4pm. The show offered a great entertainment and all malayalees enjoyed the evening.

Movie 2 Harihar Nagar

KAW presented 2 Harihar Nagaras the movie for the month of June 2009 on 20th at Totem Lake, Kirkland. Hope the movie offered good entertainment to our Malayalees with Jagadish’s hilarious comedy. Thank you for your support for making this event successful.

Movie Bhagya Devatha

KAW presented Bhagya Devatha as the movie for the month of July 2009 on 18th at Totem Lake, Kirkland. We hope, you all enjoyed this movie. Thank you for your support for making this event successful.

KAW Executive Committee 2009 Elected

Body Meeting on 17th Jan, 2009. Mr. George Daniel was elected as the new President and Mrs. Jayashree Narayanan took over as the Secretary for 2009. Mr. Jyothish Nair is the Vice President, Mr. Ashley Elenjickal the Joint Secretary & Mr. Dilip Lukose was chosen as the new Treasurer. An Executive committee comprising of 7 members - Neeni George, Pradeep Unny, Prema Viswanathan, Ranjini Prakash, Santhosh Pillai, Simmy Poulose and Sreeprakash were also elected. Ojus John is the Ex-Officio and Suresh Goraphy will be the Auditor.

Christmas/New year Fest: Januray 17, 2009

This year's Christmas/New Year celebration was on Saturday Sunday, January 17th, 2009 from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM at the Interlake Performance Arts Center. Celebrations started at 11.30 am with catered lunch, which unfortunately was short of supply and KAW EC had to order Pizzas for the remaining people! However, this didn't affect the mood of the program as the audience was entertained with a spectacular show of dances and music for close to 3 hours. Programs included a Christmas special "First Noel" by kids, Carol by Kent Marthoma Church Choir, Margamkali by Mili Ojus & team, a Fun Mime by Sreetha & team, Kuchipudi by Divya John, "Flight of Fantasy' dance choreographed by Julie Antony, Orchestra by Elmo Rajah 7 team, 'Pon Kasavu' dance choregraphed by Ajita Gopikrishnan etc. KAW President Mr. Ojus John welcomed the audience and the Christmas message as delivered by Kent Marthoma Church Vicar Rev. Fr. Roy Thomas. The Winners of KAW's Sports Tournaments were awarded with the trophies during the event. KAW Treasuer Biju Skariah explained KAW's charity initiatives for 2008. The program ended with Vote of thanks by KAW secretary Mr. Jyothish Nair. After the event, the new executive committee for 2009 was elected with Mr. George Daniel (Reos) as President and Mrs. Jayashree Narayanan as Secretary. Special thanks to all for the the great co-operation and to the commitment from all the KAW EC members and volunteers.
