Dear member of the Malayalee community:
Two years back, we shared with you the story of a boy, Viraj, who came to Seattle for a bone marrow transplant. We were overwhelmed by the support you extended to Viraj’s family. Every single time we meet Viraj’s parents, they keep thanking the community for the love, care and support that was given to them during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
Here we are again, requesting you to hear out the story of Lenin Thomas and offer your helping hand one more time.
Lenin is 14 years old and is the second son of a fisherman, Mr. Thomas, in Alappuzha, Kerala. He is a brilliant student in the Eighth Standard. About two months back, he was diagnosed with AML M2, which is an acute variety of blood cancer. The doctors in the regional cancer centre at Thiruvananthapuram have proposed chemo therapy treatment, and the first cycle has already been given. To complete the minimum number of 5 to 6 cycles of chemo therapy for getting the required remission, the hospital has estimated that the expenses will be about Rs 1 to1.5 lakhs per cycle.
Lenin’s family can use any help that we can offer. KAW has worked with Care & Share to arrange for funds to be collected through Care & Share so that your contribution can maximized with matching contribution from your employer. If you would like to help Lenin’s family, please make your financial support payable to "Care and Share" and send to the following address:
