KAW Annual General Body meeting held at Fairwood Hall, Renton on March 26, 2006
Kerala Association of Washington's Annual General Body Meeting was held at the Fairwood Library Hall, Renton on March 26, 2006 from 2.30 pm to 4.45 pm. KAW President Mr. Wilson David presided over the Meeting and Secretary Mr.Santhosh Pillai presented the Report. Treasurer, Mr. Prakash Menon presented the Financial Report for 2005. The General Body was highly appreciative of the commendable progress achieved by the 2005 Committee, particularly in securing a great venue (IKEA Hall) for conducting KAW's various events. The General Body felt that lack of full participation from fellow members is the only hindrance to the grand success of KAW. Various ways of addressing this was discussed..

KAW Executive Committee for 2006 assumed Office on March 26, 2006
The newly elected Executive Committee took charge on March 26, 2006 in the General Body Meeting. The committee is led by Mr. Babu Parayil (President) & Mr. Santhosh Nair (Secretary). The first Meeting of the new committee took place on April 2, 2006 , which took some very important decisions as well as outlined the plans for 2006. EC' 06 has decided to conduct Malayalam Classes for the members, actively participate in various Community/Charity programs in the US as well as in Kerala.

KAW begins Membership Drive 2006
KAW EC'06 has decided to do an aggressive campaign for enlisting as many number of Malayalees as possible under the KAW association. Towards this direction, Membership forms with a questionnaire will be mailed out to the current/ prospective members by April 30, 2006. The membership fee is $15.00 only (per individual/family). The membership drive will completed by May 10, 2006. Kindly fill up and return the KAW Membership form accompanied by a check for 15 dollars. If you haven't received the Membership form yet or if you want to refer somebody for KAW Membership, do send an email to secretary@kaow.org.

KAW Mother’s Day program on May 14, 2006
KAW is kick-starting its 2006 activities with a Mother’s Day Get-together on 14-th May 4.00 pm to 6.30 pm at the Mar Thoma Church Hall, 20807 142nd Ave SE Kent, WA 98042. We invite you and your family to this Mother’s Day Musical Evening (Sangeetha Sayahnam) which will also feature a Mother’s Day special presentation, Mother's day "Tribute" by our little ones, ‘Anthakshari’ and Bingo along with announcement of KAW’s plans for this year. Free Snacks will be provided & Entry is free for all KAW members and families. If you would like to participate in any of the Mother’s Day programs, do email secretary@kaow.org

KAW Community Outreach on May 13, 2006
On Saturday May 13 2006, the Kent Food Bank needs help with sorting food that comes in from the letter carriers drive. This food drive is one of the largest of the year. Usually there will around 30,000 pounds of food.. KAW is planning to help from 3:00-5:00pm. This 2-hour time frame is blocked for KAW volunteers only! IAWW Visa Camp on May 13, 2006

Why a Monthly NewsLetter?
One of the first decisions of the new Committee was to have a Monthly NewsLetter to be circulated among KAW members. The Newsletter intends to cover all KAW Events as well as other Events, Programs and Festivals of Malayalees in the state of Washington. The Newsletter will also bring to you news from our motherland and the world over. Moreover, it will serve as a channel of communication and as a medium to showcase the exquisite talents of the KAW Family members. Any suggestions/ideas for improvement will be whole-heartedly appreciated. If you want to announce any Community Events/ Functions to the KAW members, let us know..

Seattle-area home prices won't be coming down anytime soon, experts say
After a year of blistering home sales that saw appreciation climb to highs not seen since 1999, Charles Swanson can only shake his head. "House prices are so expensive now that it really does not make sense," said Swanson, a North Seattle homeowner. "I keep saying the bubble is going to burst when there is too much inventory, and prices will get back to realistic. But it never seems to happen."
